SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded isn't Using The Correct GPU

If you have both a dedicated and integrated GPU (graphics processing unit), and you're encountering crashing or performance issues in-game, then it's possible that the correct GPU isn't being utilized in-game. This commonly happens on laptops as they are trying to be more energy efficient to reduce battery usage, but it can also happen on desktops in some cases.

How to check which GPU is being used

Check Which GPU Is Being Utilized With Windows Task Manager
  1. Open the Windows Task Manager by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESC
  2. Click on the Performance tab and take note of which GPU is GPU 0 and 1
    1. If you only see 1 GPU listed here, that likely means that you only have 1 GPU within your system.
  3. Click on the Processes tab and look for the for GPU Engine column. If you don't see that then right Click on any of the columns such as CPU, Memory, or Disk to open up the list and make sure it is checked
  4. Now start up the game and you should see the game process appear within your task manager. Check to see which GPU shows in the same are as the game process. The GPU number should match up with the GPUs you looked up in Step 2.

 

If the correct GPU is being used then any technical issues you're experiencing isn't likely from the result of the incorrect GPU being utilized. You can try going into your video settings while in game and lowering your options to see if it could help improve your game performance. If you noticed the incorrect GPU is being utilized then try the troubleshooting steps below to see if they can help resolve the issue.

Plug-in Your Laptop

If your laptop isn't plugged in while playing games then it may end up utilizing integrated graphics in order to utilize less battery.

Plug Your Monitor Cable Into the Correct GPU

If you are on a desktop PC, make sure your monitor is plugged directly into your dedicated GPU and not your motherboard.

Select the correct GPU within Windows

On Windows 10
  1. Right click on the Windows Start icon on your taskbar > System > Display
  2. Scroll down and click Graphics Settings
  3. You should see a list of applications at the bottom. If SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded doesn't appear then you can click the Browse button to find the executable on your PC and add it to the list
  4. Click on SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded and select Options
  5. You should see a list of available GPU and make sure to select the High Performance GPU option
On Windows 11
  1. Right click on the Windows Start icon on your taskbar > Settings > System > Display
  2. Scroll down and click Graphics
  3. You should see a list of applications at the bottom. If SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded doesn't appear then you can click the Add desktop app and find the executable on your PC and add it to the list
  4. Click on SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded and for GPU preference make sure to select the High Performance GPU option

Windows Power Settings

Some computers, especially laptops, will often use  power saving plans to use less battery power. This can often limit the speed of your GPU and CPU. 

Set Power Plan To High Performance
  1. Open your Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options
  2. You'll see power plans such as Balanced, Power saver, etc. You'll want to select High Performance

     
  3. If you don't see High Performance you may need to select the drop down for Show Additional Plans
  4. For laptop users make sure it is plugged in and charging. As this setting will consume more battery power on laptops.
